The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) is the lead agency of the U.S. government responsible for carrying out studies of basic research, disease research, global health, environmental, and clinical research focused multidisciplinary training for researchers.
The NIEHS is continually working to reduce stress on the human illness and disability through a deep understanding of how environmental factors may be causing impact on the development and promotion of human diseases.
The NIEHS, working closely with him the National Science Foundation (NSF) recently announced a funding opportunity titled Centers for Oceans and Human Health (COHH).
The program requires COHH for the purchase of grant applications, the processes included to the challenges that make the oceans and human health.

Interested applicants are invited to submit their applications electronically through Grants.gov Web site. The closing date is 22 November 2011.
Institutions or organizations may be considered until they have one of the following:
a) Universities, public / public or private
b) profit and nonprofit organizations and small businesses
c) local governments in the U.S. and its territories and possessions
d) independent school districts
e) Public housing authorities / Indian housing authorities
f) Native American tribal organizations (other than federally recognized tribal governments)
g) Faith-based organizations and community
h) Regional organizations
The program COHH is driven by the desire of the NIEHS to the final results of human exposure to environmental factors, in the hope that these studies lead to explore:
a) the identification of substances that can be dangerous and involve the risk to human diseases, disorders and deficiencies;
b) the creation of effective strategies for disease prevention
c) the improvement of human health effects due to environmental influences
d) product development and technology-oriented understanding of the harmful effects of environmental factors
e) Finally, the success of education and training of scientists in all areas of environmental health research.
